This qualification helped me develop a comprehensive understanding of practical horticulture, including plant identification and botanical nomenclature, plant science, soils, propagation, pruning, pests and diseases, nutrition, and seasonal garden management. It underpins every design decision with sound horticultural knowledge and practical expertise.
Formal training in the principles of garden design, covering site analysis, spatial planning, design development and planting composition. Combined with practical horticultural experience, it enables me to create gardens that are both visually balanced and designed to thrive in the long term.
An understanding of the principles of hard landscaping, construction methods and material specification, providing valuable insight into how structural elements integrate with planting and the wider garden design.
